The 2021 EU-China "Dreams of Europe and China" Children's Art Exhibition was held on 7 November 2021 at the Pingyao International Center for Oil Painting Exchanges in the World Cultural Heritage City of Pingyao.
126 paintings from Belgium, Poland, Latvia, Hungary, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Italy and Malta, 132 paintings from Pingyao and Taiyuan and 110 paintings from Hong Kong from children aged 4 to 18 were exhibited at the Centre.
The exhibition was organised by the EU Delegation to China, co-organised by the China Friendship Foundation for Peace and Development, "The World and China" Magazine, Taiyuan Huajia Children's Art and the Pingyao International Center for Oil Painting Exchanges.
Zhao Dongping, Executive Director of the United Front Work Department of Pingyao City, said in his opening speech that Pingyao is an ancient city with a history of more than 2,700 years, and due to the importance the people of Pingyao attach to the architecture and culture of the ancient city, the whole city has been preserved intact and awarded the title of World Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO in 1997. The young guests at the event read out a message from EU Ambassador Nicolas Chapuis during the opening.
Local organizers handed over the certificates to the participants
The opening ceremony was attended by Zhao Dongsheng, Executive Director of Pingyao's Press Department, as well as Yang Xiaodong, Vice Director of the United Front Work Department, and leaders of the Pingyao Art Association, Calligraphy Association and other organizations.
This exhibition with 368 paintings runs until 30 November
